Backup
Questions
Can I backup my entire drive with Agency
Backup?
No. Agency
Backup is designed to only backup user files and not system or program files.
In the event of a computer crash, it is recommended that you reinstall
the operating system and all programs from the original disks.
Can
I schedule the backup to run whenever I want?
Yes, the Remote
Backup software lets you set your own backup schedule.
How are files deleted from storage?
The
Agency Backup server software manages file deletions. Agency
Backup maintains the following data retention settings on our Data
Centers for our customers.
Files
are backed up in backup sets that you can define. Data backup sets
older than 30 days are deleted, but your most recent version, of the backup
set, is always kept. Files that you have previously backed up and then deselected from
a backup set will be deleted with its last backup set after 30 days If
that backup set has a newer version on the server.
How
long does it take to back up my data?
The time it
takes to backup is for the most part a function of your upload bandwidth speed
and the amount of data being backed up

How
much data can I backup?
As much as
you want. Your limitation will be with your internet connection upload
speed. Note: You will be charged on the amount of actual compressed data you
store. See the Agency Backup pricing page
for more information.
How often can I do a backup?
You may
backup your data as often as you like because you set a backup schedule that
works best for your company. The system comes with two pre-configured
backup sets. The default backup set is scheduled to perform 5 incremental
backups a week. A second backup set is scheduled to perform a full
backup of its files on the 1st 3rd and 5th Friday's of the month.
What
files should I select?
Agency
Backup is intended to protect your critical data files, not the
commercial software that you install from disks or CD. You
should focus on mission critical data files, which are files that you would
have to have to continue your business and/or files that cannot be easily replaced.
Examples would include
accounting, income tax, contact management data, etc.
The
Remote Backup software
comes with predefined filters, which allow you to automatically select certain
file extensions without knowing where all the files are located. The
default backup set is set to backup some of the most common file types such
as: .mdb, .sql, .doc, .xls, .pst, .msg, .qbb, .tax etc...
Don’t backup
up operating system files or program files which can be replaced. We
also recommend that you not back up multimedia files.
Can
I backup open and locked files with the Remote Backup software?
Files and databases that are in use during the backup
process will more than likely be skipped until
the next backup session. To get around this
problem, The Remote Backup software can be used with the optional Open File Manager
program to make sure that these open and locked files get backed up
successfully.
